Efa Gruffudd Jones
Where were you born and brought up?
I was born in Morriston, but was educated outside my community at Ysgol Gyfun Ystalyfera as that was the only Welsh medium secondary school in the county at the time.
Where do you live now?
In Cardiff, but I regularly travel throughout Wales with my job!
I'm married to Huw and we have a son called Dafydd Sion. He's nearly five years old and keeps me on my toes! He attends Ysgol Gynradd Gwaelod y Garth and loves it there.
Tell us about you career:
I have worked for several organisations. I started my career with the Welsh Language Board and then moved to The Arts Council of Wales. I've been working for the Urdd since 2000, and have been Chief Executive of this active and exciting organisation for five years.
What are your interests and hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my extended family and going out for lots of Indian meals. I enjoy walking parts of the Pembrokeshire coast and enjoy reading novels - some literary and some less so. I'd like to say that I have time to go swimming, visit the cinema, learn a new language, write poetry….but I don't!
What are you most proud of?
Tell us something about yourself that nobody else would know?
Ha ha. That's difficult. The fact that I will never run a marathon or do a bungee jump during my lifetime. I'm certain about that - although I do like being adventurous occasionaly!
If you were an animal, what would you be?
I'm not a great fan of animals - I prefer people, but if I had to choose I'd like to be any animal that gets a lot of food and affection in a zoo.
Which three people (dead or alive) would you invite over for dinner?
Mistar Urdd, Mickey Mouse and Ben 10.
Why did you want be on the All Wales Convention Executive Committee?
To ensure that the Convention listens to young people.
