Conwy Public Event - 25 February 2009
Date of Event: 25/02/2009
The event was chaired by former ITV Wales news anchor Arfon Haines Davies, who hosted the debate and discussion elements of the session. Introducing the event was Gwyn Evans, Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses in North Wales.
The event started with an open discussion forum. This allowed the audience to raise any opinions or thoughts about how government works in Wales, and in particular about the current law-making powers of the National Assembly for Wales. Sir Emyr Jones Parry, Chairman of the Convention, was present to provide key facts about the Convention and respond to individual queries.
Following this, each table discussed key thoughts and opinions round the table and posted the most important views around the room for the rest of the room to see and share.
Almost 50 people attended the event and a team of staff and Members of the Executive Committee of the Convention were on hand to answer questions about the National Assembly for Wales’ current powers and the options for the future.
This event was the fourth in a series of 22 public meetings to be held across Wales aiming to engage with the Welsh public. The next event will take place in Carmarthenshire on 5th March at Quins Rugby Club, Carmarthen.
