Meeting with County Councils – Executive Committee Event, January – July, 2009

Sir Emyr Jones Parry, Chair of the All Wales Convention, made a commitment to meet with every County Council in Wales during 2009.

Date of Event: 15/07/2009

Councils play a key role in the democratic process. According to the WLGA:

Councils are much more than providers of everyday local services. They have a power of community leadership – to lead, influence and support partner organisations to work to common goals to meet the needs and aspirations of their communities.

Sir Emyr was keen to meet with Council members to explain the Convention's aims and objectives. Sir Emyr also asked the Councils how they currently feel about working with the National Assembly and Welsh Assembly Government and whether or not more law-making powers would help of hinder the relationship.
